Being deceived? Is everything a sham, a put-on? Can anyone be trusted? Looking for absolute truth?
There are many voices constantly seeking to get our attention and trying to tell us what to do. Which voice is right and which one is wrong? Which voice is Truth and will benefit us the most?
A common belief is that you must follow your own heart and do whatever you feel is best for you. For example, why stay in a job that is not paying you what you deserve? Why stay in a marriage when your needs are not being met? Why follow the rules when all you have to do is be true to your heart and do what is best for you?
The problem with following your heart is that there is no consistency. Even your feelings change from one day to the next. Your view on any issue can be altered with new information, with changing circumstances, and even with your likes and dislikes.
Is there a standard that we can follow to lead us to ultimate Truth? The answer is yes! There is absolute Truth and that Truth is found in Jesus Christ. Jesus said that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. The beauty of following God’s Truth is that His Truth is the same in every situation, with every individual, and in every season of life.
The Truth is that God is perfect and demands perfection from His creation. But, the Bible says that we all fall short of God’s perfection and that is called sin. The penalty for this is death. But, God does not want to kill us … he wants to be in relationship with us! So, He gave His Son, His one and only Son named Jesus, to die in our place. Since Jesus is the perfect Son of God and the perfect man, He is the perfect one … the only one … who can stand in your place. Jesus gave His life on the cross over two thousand years ago so that the penalty of your imperfection … your sin … would be paid.
Death could not hold Jesus in the grave. He rose on the third day and returned to heaven. This Truth is found in the Bible. And it is the Bible that tells us how to live for the Bible is absolute Truth. It is God’s Word.
Absolute Truth does exist. The question is, are you going to go your own way or will you give yourself over to the One who can forgive you and offer you authentic life?

“Dear Jesus, I am searching for Truth; genuine, authentic, absolute Truth. I am tired of being deceived and being lied to by the world an people around me. Please forgive me of my sin and bring Truth into my life. I surrender my heart to you and ask that you take control of my life now. Thank you.”
