Emptiness

Does anyone see me for who I am? Why do I feel like I am walking this life alone?

Did you know that you were created with a need to be in relationship? Yet we often experience the pain of feeling lonely, sometimes even in the middle of a crowd of people (social alienation).

God’s word speaks to your feeling of emptiness.

We have all asked, “What is the purpose for my life?” Past generations worked for forty years for the same company, lived in the same house, were married to the same woman, and attended the same church? Is this the secret to fulfillment?

We are told often that we should strive for success—success in every area of life. But, just to reach our goals in some of these areas will not always bring fulfillment. In fact, such success really does not fill the void of emptiness.

What if we sacrifice and work hard and climb the mountain of success only to discover that we’re really not fulfilled or even happy? What if we climb the wrong mountain? What will we have to show for our lives at the end of our days when we are placed in the ground and then stand before God? The Bible puts it this way, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and yet lose his soul?”

See, we are created in the image of God. We can ignore that image. We can deny it and bring shame to that image of God in us. But, we can never erase God’s image from the hard drive of our heart. It is that image of God within us that cries out for us to be in relationship with our Creator. The fact is that until we are at peace with God, we will feel empty and unfulfilled.

So, how do you become aligned with God and find true purpose? The answer is that you must discover Jesus Christ. God’s Son is your true friend and we must follow His teachings. See, God is perfect and in Him there is no imperfection for if there was, He would not be God. We have all fallen short of God’s perfection due to our willful disobedience and that is called sin. The Bible says that penalty for sinning is death. But, we cannot pay that price because how can we be in relationship with God if we are dead? So, God demonstrated His love to us in this that while we were still sinning, Jesus Christ, God’s One and only Son, died in our place and paid our penalty. If we receive this gift of life then we must give our hearts, minds, and strength over to Jesus and live by His standards.

God has a purpose for your life. He wants you to succeed and to be happy. But, success and happiness are not found in making your own way but in doing what God wants you to do. God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power. The first step in finding God’s purpose for you is to repent of your sins before Him and ask Jesus to take control of your life.

As you travel life’s journey, you can take the road from emptiness to fulfillment. Pray this prayer with us…

“Dear Jesus, I need you to fill my void of emptiness and lack of purpose. Please forgive me of my sin and bring fulfillment to me. I surrender my heart to you and ask that you take control of my life now. Thank you.”
