As you travel life’s journey, you can take the road from fear to love.
There are times in our lives when we are so captivated by fear and panic attacks that we paralyzed and unable to respond appropriately. We are fearful of bodily harm, fearful of the unknown, and fearful of the future. Life issues such as insignificance, hopelessness, guilt, and extended illness can fill our hearts with fear. Fear shatters our lives and leaves us in depression, emptiness, and brokenness. In fact, the list of phobias is so long that it would take hours, if not days, to just mention every possible item that causes fear. Some of our fears seem reasonable … such as fear of terrorism … while other fears defy logic … like fear of ants.
Whether your fear is based in reason or based on falsehood, the One who overcomes all fear is Jesus Christ.
Consider your fear from a theological perspective. The one called the devil was a created being who was removed from heaven due to his pride and feeling of self-importance. He knows that he cannot hurt God and so he attacks the ones who the Lord loves the most; His children. The Bible describes his activity this way: “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (I Peter 5:8). The devil is the author of fear, anxiety, shame, worrying, panic attakcs, anxiety disorder, doubt and all associations with him result in death.
God the Father does not want you to die! He wants to engage you in a loving relationship. He loves you so much that He sent Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to conquer sin and death. Jesus did this when he laid down His life for us and rose again on the third day. The Bible says that “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God and God in him.” Jesus is God and Jesus is love. The Bible continues, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.” So, there you have the answer to your fear! If you live in God then Jesus will drive out your fear.
Let’s consider this again. Jesus taught us, “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28). This teaching presents us with bad news and good news. The bad news is that you cannot overcome your deep-seated fears alone. You need help. You cannot overcome the power of the devil on your own because you are not capable. So, if you are living by your own standards and living to please your own will then you should be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell. That’s the bad news.
The Good News is that the One who is know as the “King of Kings” and the “Lord of Lords” is Jesus Christ and there is no one … no one … who compares to Him. He has no equal. The power of Jesus Christ is infinitely greater than the power of Satan. So, when you turn to Jesus, to the One who is Perfect Love, then you live by His strength and you will discover victory over your sins that plague you, your addictions that bind you, and your fears that paralyze you.
There is even more Good News! When you confess your sins to God and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord then you are adopted into the family of God. The Bible says, “”For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children” (Romans 8:15, 16).
When you are a child of God then you can walk with Jesus. He will never leave you or forsake you and He will exchange your fear for peace. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).
The answer to your fear is Jesus Christ! God’s Word states, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Let’s talk with Jesus right now and ask Him to take away your fear and fill you with His love …
“Dear Jesus, I do not want to be full of fear anymore. I surrender my heart to you and ask that you take control of my life. Thank you for removing all my fear, stress management, worring and panic attacks, for replacing it with your love, and for giving me peace.”
