What We Believe

Manhattan First Assembly of God is an Assemblies of God church. Our doctrines are founded in His word, and proven through the lives of many men and women who have been changed by the God of our doctrines.

What we believe is rooted in 16 fundamental truths

Four of our fundamental truths are core doctrines, Salvation, Baptism in the Holy Spirit, Divine Healing, The Second Coming of Christ. The following short videos will explain each of these in more detail.

Salvation

Baptism In the Holy Spirit

Divine Healing

Second Coming

What to Expect

When you come to our church we want you to feel like its home for you. So we have given you a quick rundown of what you can expect.

You will be greeted by friendly, trained, knowledgeable people that will welcome you and assist you with anything you may need.

If you have children your greeters will lead you to the right place where you will find some of the best children’s workers you will ever meet. If you would like more information about our children’s ministry called “Kids First,” just follow this link: Manhattan First Kids

Once your children are settled in, then you will be able to join us for our worship experience in the sanctuary. You will find our priorities are Worship, His Word, and the Altar (a time of experiencing Him). In our service, you will be able to engage in passionate worship that is based on a biblical pattern of exuberant praise and adoration of the only One worthy, Jesus Christ. You will be challenged with a dynamic word from the lead pastor, and you will always be given the chance to respond to that word. Our desire is never to manipulate but to always give the Holy Spirit room to do His work in you and me.

Our hope and prayer is that God will meet with you in a life changing way.

Below is a short list of distinctive experiences for our church, and scriptural support for them. All of these are not present at every Worship Service, but they are common to us.

WORSHIP

Lifting of Hands – Psalm 63:4 So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.

Dance – Psalm 149:3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.

Clapping of Hands – Psalm 47:1 O clap you hands, all people; Shout to God with the voice of joy.

Singing – Psalm 135:3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; Sing praises to His name, for it is lovely.

Shout – Psalm 100:1 Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.

Instruments – Psalm 150:1-6 Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord

GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

Tongues – 1 Corinthians 12:28 And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, … various kinds of tongues.

Tongues and Interpretation of tongues – 1 Corinthians 12:10 … another prophecy,… to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.

Prophetic words – 1 Corinthians 12:12 …, and to another prophecy,…

For more insight from God’s word on this please read carefully 1 Corinthians 12,13 and 14.

BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Evidence – The initial physical evidence is speaking in tongues – Acts 2:4

Reason we seek to be baptized in His Spirit – Primarily to be empowered to be a witness for Christ – Acts 1:8

PREACHING

1 Corinthians 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

Community

Someone once said that community is built around common unity, we believe that is true! As you become part of our family, you will find that you feel like you belong, and that is because you will find a common unity.
